Japanese Watch Manga

While investigating the available reference books for Japanese watches I came across a couple of watch based manga written by Maki Hirochi. These are a series titled “Is the man who buys a luxury watch priced over 1 million yen a fool?”.

The books are based around Maki-san who is investigating the different types of watches on the market and the people and technology behind them. In the first issue they visit the SII Morioka factory and in the second book they visit the Seiko Museum in Tokyo.

These first appeared as a series in the Japanese watch magazine Chronos.

These manga do not really contain any useful reference material but I doubt that there are too many other manga that describe the functional workings of a column wheel chronograph.
